Business Manager’s Report

Sisters and Brothers,

I hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving with their families. We are coming to the end of the year now and Christmas and New Years are coming very quickly. Our last day of work before shutdown is Thursday December 22, 2022, and we return to work Tuesday January 3rd, 2023. As a reminder, per Article 8.1 (d) of our contract, if you work any of the scheduled holidays (outlined in Article 18.0) you will be paid at the double time rate, on top of the holiday pay.

The new company has made the decision to not give out holiday gift cards going forward. This is unilateral across all Unions working for RTX. Instead, they are going to provide each member an RTX fleece jacket, and a holiday meal (or a $25 voucher to use in the café for locations other than Andover and Waltham).

The company has notified us that effective January 1, 2023, they are no longer going to continue the practice of giving our members with 35 years of service a rocking chair when they retire. This is not a negotiated issue, as it has always been Raytheon’s practice. The only requirement for them to change past practice is to give the Union a 30-day notice. Regardless, my team and labor relations have had discussion on this issue, and we suggested the company give every member with the required amount of time, the chair now as they have already earned it. This is only 251 members, and the company is trying to say it is “not in their budget”. We will continue to work this issue and keep you informed of the outcome.

Affective January 1, 2023, the international office has increased per capita by $2 per month for “BA” members (majority of our members) and $4 per month for “A” members. Per our Local’s by-laws, Article IX, Section 5 (d), any increases to the international’s per capita shall be added into the member’s dues. “BA” members dues will change from $57.80 per month to $59.80 per month, and “A” members dues will change from $76.80 per month to $80.80 per month.

We held our Annual Local 1505 Christmas party this past Saturday and everyone had a great time. I want to thank the RENEW Committee for all their hard work putting this together. It is always great to get together with our sisters and brothers outside of work. If you have not attended one of the parties yet, I highly encourage you to do so. With that said, I want to wish everyone a happy and healthy holiday season. I hope you all enjoy the time off with your family and friends.
